1990 Jeep Commanche
5 Speed manual transmission
4.0 Straight 6 engine
6 foot bed
Starts, runs, and shifts good.
Interior in pretty good condition, no rips in seat, no cracks in dash, original radio, headliner not sagging, etc.
The body is solid- Some typical jeep rust on the rockers and rear fenders, but nothing really severe.
Has a nice bed liner
Newer tires. About 4000 miles on them, and I have the receipts to prove it
About 20 MPG if you drive it right.
The not so good:
Steering is a bit loose, I believe it needs new pitman arm bushings. Pretty easy fix.
Alternator may be going out. I'm going by the gauge on the dash and they tend to be inaccurate, so it may be fine. I've been driving it without issue, so it may just be the gauge.
Tailgate won't open because the handle rusted through. Tailgate isn't all that rusty, just the handle. I have a new handle ready to install.
Has a bit of an oil leak. If you've ever owned a jeep with the 4.0 engine, you know they all leak after so long. I'm fairly certain its coming from the oil filter adapter though. Again, pretty easy fix.
Rebuilt title. I don't know why, however it starts, runs, and drives great. I cant see any significant collision damage, etc.
As stated above, typical jeep rust in the rockers and rear fenders. Clear coat fading.
Would make a great 4x4 conversion project, the conversion isn't too hard to do and can generally be done with under $1000 in parts if you wanted this to be a trail rig. Could also be daily driver, work truck, etc. Not a pretty truck, but it is reliable.
